Yeats, comes to mind: “Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire.” The quote compares the filling of a pail, which represents a passive, rote approach to learning, where information is simply poured into a student’s mind, to the lighting of a fire, which represents an active, dynamic approach to learning, where students are encouraged to think critically, question, and explore. It suggests that education should aim to inspire curiosity and ignite a lifelong passion for learning, rather than just conveying information. (fb)
