🌍 On this World Humanitarian Day, we confront a world where conflicts, crises, and climate-induced disasters continue to relentlessly escalate, leaving countless people to bear the brunt of violence, displacement and adversity. We stand united with those whose lives have been upended by aggression and conflict and whose suffering has been intensified by a blatant disregard for the International Humanitarian Law and the Geneva Conventions. Our solidarity extends to communities ravaged by the climate crisis, where inaction or inadequate responses from those in power have left millions of people vulnerable. Today, we also reaffirm our commitment to marginalized groups—women, LGBTQIA+ individuals, persons with disabilities, and other vulnerable communities—who often face targeted violence and discrimination. And today we stand in solidarity and honour of our frontline humanitarian workers - the unsung heroes - who serve their communities with unwavering dedication. These individuals, deeply embedded in their context, face immense risks and challenges. They often work with limited resources, without access to comprehensive training or adequate security measures. Their critical, life-saving efforts are made even more challenging by their often invisible presence and the personal sacrifices they make. Today, let us celebrate and honour these frontline humanitarian workers who confront crisis head-on, and provide the most critical and urgent assistance.
