The Arc of Luzerne County is an association formed in 1952 by family members and friends of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD). We are an affiliate of The Arc of the US and The Arc of Pennsylvania. Today there are more than 700 chapters of The Arc across the country. We believe that people with I/DD are entitled to the same respect, dignity, equality, safety, and security accorded to other members of the community. We believe that people with I/DD belong in the community. We are committed to reducing the incidence and limiting the consequence of I/DD through education, research, advocacy, and the support of families, friends, and the community.
