We are teachers, artists, and business owners, like minded individuals, with a common goal of revital MissionOur mission is to promote life, hope and healing in Uniontown and Fayette County through the continual development of the public arts center, The Phoenix, where our community, especially our underserved youth, can participate, at a low cost or free of charge, in music, theatre, dance, and visual arts.MethodBy developing a versatile environment for artists to teach, practice, create and showcase art in all its forms, we provide a place where our community is engaged and encouraged to positively affect the world by breaking down psychological barriers, giving purpose to young lives, aiding in cultural revitalization through the encouraged development of artistic enterprise and reshaping the business of social change through the arts.CreedoThe arts promote healing, hope and culture. Without art there is no healing, without healing there is no hope, without hope there is no culture and without culture there is no life. We operate an Arts Center, The Phoenix, where the community is offered a variety of programs in various mediums of art. Programs include after-school and summer programs for the youth, year round classes in various forms of two dimensional and three dimensional art, music, theater, dance, horticulture, art therapy and human connections through artistic mediums for everyone. The Phoenix will hold a gallery and gift shop where local and nationally know artist will be invited to show and sell their works in exchange for providing classes, symposiums and/or lectures for our community. The center will one day also house a local art supply store. The Phoenix will have a Theater space for community productions that will also serve as a low cost rental space for any organization or individuals to hold meetings, classes, lectures, parties, etc. - - -How will our plan impact our community?The ultimate goal is to facilitate the encouragement of a forward thinking, motivated and appreciative change of mind through the arts. By creating a cultural center in the city of Uniontown, our youth will be motivated, our talented citizens will be recognized and artistic enterprise will be encouraged.The Phoenix and the Uniontown Arts Fellowship, the non-profit group that manages the center, will create diverse employment opportunities with foreseen growth, re-purpose a historic building in Downtown Uniontown and create a high source of foot traffic which will in turn create economic growth for current downtown businesses from both residence and tourists which will encourage other business to populate and thrive in Downtown Uniontown.In Summary, we will stimulate the minds and conscious of the community, help create an appealing downtown atmosphere, provide employment opportunities and propel economic growth while serving our under-served youth and all citizens of Fayette County and our surrounding neighbors.
