The Riedel and Cody Fund

Helping families care for their companion pets diagnosed with cancer. We believe that we are all blessed to have companion animals in our lives and their presence is a wonderful bond which has helped many people through difficult times. Animals are stricken with cancer at the same rate as people: one in four, and that's a distressing realty for many loving owners who don't have the income to afford the cost of lifesaving cancer treatments. Our founders both traveled the path of cancer diagnosis, treatments, and recovery, for their dogs Riedel and Cody. They started RCF to help those people who couldn't afford cancer treatments and had no choice but to euthanize their best friend. That forced decision was not humane or acceptable and they started RCF to help find ways to change that outcome. Every month hundreds of applications come into our charity from owners desperate to find financial help to save their pet. Most of our applicants are on fixed or limited to no income, and often times they have no family members or social circles and their pet gives them the joy to keep going everyday. Our mission is to provide financial and emotional support for anyone whose pet has cancer. We also strive to educate the public about the prevalence of animal cancers and preventative measures each household can take to better protect their companion animals. We strongly believe in the profound influence comparative oncology studies have on both human and animal cancer research and we support those studies whenever possible. Our mission has been supported by the Petco Foundation, the Blue Buffalo Foundation, various business partners, individual donors and our board of directors and we continue to try to educate and raise money for those companion animals in need.
