It was founded in 1953 as the "Rad THE PURPOSES OF THIS SOCIETY ARE: (1) TO ADVANCE THE SCIENCE OF RADIOLOGY, AND TO IMPROVE RADIOLOGICAL SERVICES TO THE SICK; (2) TO STUDY THE SOCIOECONOMIC ASPECTS OF THE PRACTICE OF RADIOLIGY; (3) TO ENCOURAGE IMRPOVED AND CONTINUING EDUCATION FOR RADIOLOGISTS; AND (4) TO ESTABLISH AND MAINTAIN HIGH MEDICAL AND ETHICAL STANDARDS IN THE PRACTICE OF RADIOLOGY AND ALLIED PROFESSIONAL FIELDS.
