Big tech is trying to move into Pennsylvania and make data centers our new neighbors. For far too long we have paid the price for corporate interests, and the data center buildout would be nothing new. These massive facilities would use acres of land, guzzle millions of gallons of water, and place a significant demand on our electric grid, potentially driving up our already high utility bills. As big tech companies propose more and more data centers in Pennsylvania, it's important that residents are protected. Utility companies are excited about these new high-load customers, but will they benefit everyday people? Right now, the Public Utility Commission (PUC) is accepting comments on how to connect data centers to the grid. It's important the PUC implement strong ratepayer protections before any data centers connect to the grid to make sure we don’t pay the price. The PUC's public comment period is open until June 6!
