The mission of Cook for Your LIFE (CFYL) is to give the cancer community the practical knowledge, tools, and inspiration to cook their way to a healthy survivorship from the perspective of someone who knows first-hand how cancer treatment feels. It is neither food as medicine nor food to cure. It is a free resource that shows cancer patients and nutritionists how to prepare the simple, good food that nourishesand comforts both during and after treatment.CFYL was founded in 2007 by two-time cancer survivor and passionate foodie Ann Ogden Gaffney. Bornto a family of chefs and bakers, she used her cooking skills to maintain her strength and combat the side effects of her treatment in ways that her fellow cancer patients could not. She began by offering cooking tips and recipes, which led to free hands-on cooking lessons, showing those battling cancer how to prepare meals that were delicious, nutritious, and soothing, especially as their taste for food changed during treatment.Over time, CFYL's services expanded to include a subscription-free website filled with recipesand online cooking videos, live cooking demonstrations at cancer organizations and medicalconferences, and NIH-funded research collaboration. Today, CFYL has served over 10,000 cancer patients in the NYC tri-state area, and their website averages over 250,000 visitors per month.They have been featured on CBS News, The Today Show, The Wall Street Journal, Oprah.com,The Huffington Post, Reader's Digest, and the blog and radio show Fearless & Fabulous. CFYL is a 501(c) 3 non-profit organization.
