Mon Valley Initiative – Working together to unite the communities and restore the economic vitality of the Mon Valley

Workforce and Business Development - Community Outreach - Housing Counseling - Real Estate Development MVI is a regional community development corporation, formed in 1988, working with locally-based, grass-roots advisory groups and serving over a dozen municipalities in the Monongahela River Valley. This river corridor, just outside of Pittsburgh, is an area that is still struggling to recover from the losses of jobs, people, and tax base after major steel mills and related industries left the region 40 years ago. MVI is currently organized into three program areas to best carry out its mission. These program areas include Real Estate Development & Community Outreach, Housing Counseling, and Workforce & Financial Coaching. Through these programs, we seek to improve the lives of individuals in the Mon Valley and help rebuild the region.
