Room 6 got to hit the links at Linvilla Orchards to close out the month of March, and utilized all kinds of tools to take on their mini golf course! In addition to your standard putter, you can see how Zoe and Grace were able to use this PVC pipe to line up their putts! Around some of those tougher holes (and Linvilla's mini golf is no joke!) students and staff got out the switch-activated cup pourer, utilized here by Liam!! And when they were done with their 18 holes, CADES Teacher Monica Flannery's class moved on to the petting zoo, where Zoe in particular had a great time! Students in Room 9 have started a new "Community Art" class that will meet once a week with GCMS Art Therapist Katie Dooley. Each week the students work together to create a piece of art together that will help beautify our school community. Students will also be given opportunities to work on social skills and peer relationships while they create art together. This project- Students are painting flowers on burlap with acrylic paint and then will use yarn to weave on to the burlap, like you can see here from Chrisette, Diamond, Zaitum, Theresa, Savannah, Michael, and Akelah. Some students will help sew the burlap pieces together to make a wall hanging that will be displayed in our Swarthmore building! The project is definitely off to a beautiful start!
