Crosswind
Crosswind, founded in 2006, grew out the hurricane relief effort in North Mississippi. In the wake of hurricane Katrina in August of 2005, many people from the gulf coast were forced north into Mississippi and into our community. In a matter of days, a small group of 14 people enlisted volunteers and created a resource command center that fed over 100 people daily for over a month while they tried to put their lives back together. We aided in securing housing and clothes for those who lost everything. This relief action showed us that there was a huge need for community outreach...and not only in a disaster situation...but also in everyday life struggles as well. Crosswind grows out of the statement "proximity implies responsibility". This has helped us communicate our understanding that the Lord holds us responsible to minister to the people and communities to which we are the closest. We enlist, train, promote and send volunteer ministers to serve in the community meeting physical, social and spiritual needs.
