Description

Edgewood Foundation

The Edgewood Foundation is a nonprofit organization focused on enhancing the cultural, social, and educational environment of Edgewood. There are at least two distinct organizations with this name, one located in Pennsylvania and the other in South Carolina.

Edgewood Foundation, Pennsylvania

Chartered in 1984, this foundation arose from the merger of the Edgewood School District into the Woodland Hills School District. It was established using monies remaining from a legal fund set up by residents to preserve the Borough's schools. The foundation's mission is to enrich community life through sponsored events and projects, fostering community identity and civic engagement. Its capital funds are managed by The Pittsburgh Foundation, with a long-term goal of becoming self-sustaining through these investments[1][4].

Annual events include a Senior Brunch to celebrate local high school graduates, the William D. Limpert Volunteer Service Award to recognize community service, and social events like the Wine and Chocolate evening[3]. The foundation also offers educational and cultural programs aimed at enhancing community life.

Edgewood Foundation, South Carolina

This Edgewood Foundation is a nonprofit organization committed to educating, equipping, and empowering the citizens of the Edgewood Community in South Carolina. For over 15 years, it has provided diverse programs focusing on youth development, senior care, literacy, nutrition, homework assistance, summer enrichment camps, cultural arts, and recreational activities. The foundation operates as a holistic service provider, impacting children, young adults, seniors, and entire family units[2].

It is a state-approved site for supplemental educational services through its Afterschool Program and accepts ABC vouchers. The organization also sponsors community-building events such as the Unity in the Community and Summer Enrichment Camps[2].
