The Trump administration’s #immigration crackdown is straining the long-term care workforce, threatening access to essential services for older adults. Katie Smith Sloan, president and CEO of LeadingAge, warns: “The services just won’t be available for people when they need them because we won’t be able to staff them. ” The administration’s policies are forcing LeadingAge’s nonprofit members to let go of valued staff due to the end of the humanitarian parole and temporary protected status (#TPS) programs–vital legal pathways that allowed these workers to live and work–legally–in the U.
