Forgotten Friday: The c. 1884 Henry W. Doughten house on the east side of Chester Ave, north of Oak Ave. Photographed in the 1890s. Beautiful then and beautiful now. According to James Purdy in Moorestown Old and New, "Henry W. Doughten built a capacious warehouse at East Moorestown station in 1879, where he is extensively engaged in the sale of agricultural machinery, fertilizers, seeds, coal, etc. The office of the Moorestown Chronicle , edited by J.E. Watkins, and published by Watkins & Lovell, is in this building." (fb)
