Heroes Against Diabetes Heroes Against Diabetes Your Support is Powerful. When our daughter Njeri was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at 15 months our world came crashing down. After the initial shock we knew we had to pick ourselves up and help our daughter by closely monitoring her diet testing her blood sugar levels six to seven times a day and changing her insulin pump site every two days. As fortunate as we were to have the best medical advice we knew that there were others around the world who were not that fortunate.
