Regional Cancer Center
The Regional Cancer Center is a nonprofit organization designated as a 501(c)(3) entity. As such, it falls under the categories of charitable, educational, or scientific organizations, which typically receive tax-deductible donations. The organization's purpose, however, appears to be somewhat ambiguous in the provided information, and it may not directly align with the typical roles of a cancer treatment facility.
Financial Aspects
Financial data indicates that the organization derives the majority of its revenue from program services, which accounted for approximately 96.8% of total revenue in one fiscal year. Contributions were minimal, and other income sources included a small portion from investment income and other revenue streams. Expenses were primarily for salaries and wages, with notable costs for other organizational activities.
Governance and Leadership
Key officers do not receive compensation, as indicated by the available data. However, certain employees, such as physicists and directors of pharmacy, are noted to receive salaries.
General Activities
Specific details about the Regional Cancer Center's activities, such as cancer treatment, support services, or community outreach programs, are not explicitly outlined in the available information. Therefore, its role might be more aligned with supporting or coordinating cancer care-related initiatives rather than providing direct medical services.
In summary, while the Regional Cancer Center is recognized as a nonprofit organization, specific information about its mission, services, or operational activities is limited. It appears to manage and support initiatives through its program services but lacks detailed information on direct cancer-related care or support services compared to other similar organizations.

This National Speech-Language-Hearing Month, we’re proud to recognize the dedicated UPMC Rehabilitation Institute speech-language pathologists from throughout our regions. You can work with Steph at our location on Jane Street in South Side – Pittsburgh. “I work primarily with adults who have experienced some sort of condition that has affected their thinking or communication abilities. This often leaves people with a loss of independence or increased feelings of loneliness. I see communication as such an important way that we connect with each other and the world, so to be able to work one on one with people to promote that feels like such a privilege. “It matters to me that our sessions prioritize the tasks or contexts that are most relevant to that individual, whether that is reading a bedtime story to their grandchild, speaking effectively at a corporate meeting, talking with their friends about the latest Steelers game, or remembering to walk and feed their dog. Anytime I am working, I get to combine my knowledge of the brain with creativity and a love for people, and for that, I am thankful!” — Stephanie Churchill, MS, CCC-SLP (fb)

Bob was worried after receiving a diagnosis of atrial fibrillation (AFib) – the most common type of abnormal heart rhythm – but he then met with Chinmay Patel, MD, and learned about a clinical trial studying a new treatment called pulsed field ablation (PFA). Bob ultimately became the first patient in Pennsylvania treated with PFA and hasn’t experienced AFib since. As he explains, “I live a wonderful life, and I’m thankful for every day that I have.” (fb)
