Fwd: **William "PitBill" Ziegler-9/22/74-3/27/15** It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Pit Crew Rescue Founder, Bill Ziegler. Bill was diagnosed with aggressive colon cancer just months ago and fought hard, but ultimately lost his battle on March 27, 2015. His own 3 beloved dogs Zeus, Shaq and Jinx were at his side, just the way he would have wanted. That evening the dogs were taken to the Brookhaven Town Shelter. The family reached out to Guardians of Rescue to take responsibility of the dogs and find them all loving homes. We all know how much these dogs meant to Bill and Guardians of Rescue now have the dogs. Services for Bill will be today, Monday, April 6, 2015 from 2-4 and 7-9 at Clayton Funeral home, Kings Park, NY. PLEASE SHARE!! I would like to take this moment to thank everyone who pitched in for the Brooklyn dogs! We will take pictures of them this Saturday when they are safe and sound with us!! WHY I AM THE WAY I AM WITH THEM... (short version) I have an incredible passion for this breed as they have rescued me years back by putting me on the right path. It's like a person having a near death experience and them changing their beliefs and/or views on life. Well that's how I fee about these dogs. There is NO QUESTION that if Zeus did not come into my life as badly abused as he was, I would be either dead or in jail! I've said since day one of starting this organization, that I will NEVER give up and stop defending, advocating and rescuing this breed. So this this is why I push so hard and lower myself begging for help with them as you must remember, these are dogs that society failed, their living conditions and the life they live before reaching us are no fault of their own. They did not ask for this kind of life and I am determined to give them that life they so rightfully deserve! I have to keep in mind that not everyone shares my passion and have to stop taking it personally when help doesn't arrive. With that being said, it is very frustrating when people do ask for my help and as strapped as this organization is, I say yes then people just assume "that's that" when in all reality we need assistance with supplies, vetting etc. to assure their happy and healthiness. I just wanted to let people know why I push as hard as I do and why I take any negativity towards this breed personally. In this photo above are 2 of my boys ( Shaq & Zeus ) who I simply adore and every time we look at one another is a constant reminder that none of us would be here if I didn't choose to help them!
