Grass Valley Museum and Cultural Center We are so many things We are the Grass Valley Museum and Cultural Center the historic Russell Rose Garden a community of artist studios a performance event and wedding venue and a recognized state and national historic landmark. We are a Womens History Site of National Importance Only two 19th century convents remain in California. We are the older of the two which makes us the oldest womens convent still standing west of the Rockies. We are also the oldest complete Sisters of Mercy building in the U.

This week's What is it Wednesday was one of the two dials on the painted safe located in our volunteers workroom. Be sure to come by and see it during a tour of the only building in Nevada County completely representing the history of women, children & education during the late 1800's. Now open Wednesday through Sunday from 12:30 - 3:30 p.
