Hollywood Star Clark Gable enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Force in August 1942 as a private, earning $6 a month at the age of 41. He completed Officer Candidate School on Miami Beach and graduated as a second lieutenant. After training on Miami Beach, Clark Gable went on five bombing raids over Europe abroad B-17 bombers to obtain combat film footage required for producing the movie "Combat America" , a recruiting film for aerial gunners.
