When Mark Melvin discovered the 150acre parcel tucked in between Burt and Mullett lakes for sale he had a vision of creating mountain bike trails. His daughter Kathleen had recently introduced him to mountain biking and he discovered that this part of northeastern lower Michigan could benefit from trails.

Little Traverse Conservancy Inc
Due to significant treefall from the ice storm, the Conservancy has hired a professional logging company to selectively salvage downed wood that remains viable on a few reserves and pine plantations. This helps reduce waste while providing a valuable resource. Additionally, managing the excess decomposing wood on the ground helps mitigate the risk of increased insect populations, which can cause diseases to spread among surviving trees.
