We’re honoured to have participated this week in a high-level policy meeting on Domestic Financing for Family Planning in Mombasa, coordinated by the National Council for Population and Development Represented by 𝗔𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗮 𝗦𝗲𝗻𝗷𝗲, Lwala joined key government leaders—including the Principal Secretary for the State Department of Medical Services, other Ministry of Health officials, and key partners—to advocate for sustained local investment in family planning. The message was clear: without consistent domestic funding, millions risk losing vital access to family planning services. Family planning goes beyond health; it is a cornerstone of national development, a driver of equity, and a catalyst for community empowerment. In Kenya, 1 in 5 adolescent girls has an unmet need for family planning, and 1 in 6 is already a mother. Lwala’s youth-led sexual and reproductive health initiatives give young people the skills and space to lead, transforming care for themselves and their peers. This includes building networks of support for teen mothers that link girls to strong antenatal and postnatal care, as well as providing young mothers with a community to help navigate the mental and financial stress of pregnancy.
