Organization of Black Maritime College Graduates Inc
To assist and encourage by educating and increasing public awareness regarding minority involvement in the maritime industry through recruitment, mentoring The OBMG was formed in 1994 by SUNY Maritime College graduates. The OBMG provides support for ethnic & gender minorities in the maritime and engineering professions, before and after graduation. This is done through Recruitment, Scholarships, Mentoring and Networking. The OBMG recruits at middle and high schools, informing young people about careers in the maritime and engineering fields. We award scholarships to maritime college students to assist with summer sea term, books, uniforms and more. 100% of donations go to scholarships. OBMG also mentors those students during their difficult maritime education. In addition, we offer mentoring after graduation. Lastly, OBMG provides networking for our members through our extensive connections in the maritime industry.
