Somali Women, Children and Immigrants Services
The Somali Women, Children and Immigrants Services mission statement is to equip refugees and immigrants toward self sufficiency and to facilitate to become an integral part of the greater community. Our goal is to build self-sufficiency and minimize dependence on public assistance among Somalis. We want to encourage and empower disenfranchised members of the Somali community to become socially, economically stable, and help them to adjust, being responsible of their own life and also become contributing members of our society. We want to improve the wellbeing of the women, children, and immigrants as well as creating a new understanding between the Somali community, immigrants, and the host community. SWCIS plans to do this by helping these women develop skills or a trade such as sewing, to provide General Education (Literacy,Mathematics, American Culture) and to provide Feminine Education (Health and Hygiene).
