Spring break destination: 📍 Puerto Rico Students immersed themselves in the rich history, culture, and environmental resilience of Puerto Rico! From a historical tour of Old San Juan to meeting local university students, they engaged deeply with the island’s past and present. They explored biodiversity in the Mangrove Forest Reserve and El Yunque, visited agroecological farms, and learned about grassroots recovery efforts after Hurricane Maria. Hands-on experiences included an Art Expression Workshop, Bomba dance, and crafting Vejigantes masks. The trip concluded with service at a coffee plantation and a farewell with the Puerto Rican Social and Solidarity Network. Our students weren’t the only ones traveling the world over spring break – using funds from his position as the Dr. John and Mrs. Loring Strudwick Endowed Chair, History and Social Sciences Teacher Chris Dozois ’84, P’17, ’21 traveled to Peru! Interested in enhancing his knowledge of Latin American history, Mr. Dozois visited the cities of Cusco and Lima, and the highlight of the trip was a day spent exploring Machu Picchu! (fb)
