To Sustain and Protect the Mianus River Park for All Users and Future Generations. The Friends seek to create a park which can be enjoyed by a wide variety of users. Equal consideration is also given to the park’s wildlife, plants, pools, the river and other natural assets. Friends of Mianus River Park is widely recognized as representing the users of Mianus Park. It works closely with federal, state and local governments and other volunteer organizations to maintain and improve the park. Native plants are used whenever possible along with established techniques.

A baby bear was spotted drinking water in the river a few weeks ago and bear prints were found on Deer Trail. Rather than alarm anyone we want to ensure you are educated if you encounter one in the park or elsewhere. To begin with they are native to the area.
