The USAF is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to spreading and maintaining the Japanese martial art of Aikido as created and exemplified by its founder, Morihei Ueshiba THE UNITED STATES AIKIDO FEDERATION IS A NON-PROFIT EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTION CREATED FOR THE PURPOSE OF SPREADING AND MAINTAINING THE INTEGRITY OF THE JAPANESE MARTIAL ART OF AIKIDO, AS EXEMPLIFIED AND DEVELOPED BY ITS FOUNDER, MASTER MORIHEI UESHIBA AND AS DISSEMINATED BY THE AIKIKAI FOUNDATION, AIKIDO HOMBU DOJO, THE AIKIDO WORLD HEADQUARTERS IN TOKYO, JAPAN.

It was established by Yoshimitsu Yamada Akira Tohei Mitsunari Kanai and Kazuo Chiba all direct personal students of Morihei Ueshiba the founder of aikido. Through their teachings the USAF expanded throughout the country and across the globe. With the passing of Yoshimitsu Yamada Shihan 8th dan on January 15th 2023 the USAF is currently under the technical direction of the USAF Technical Committee.
