Summer's here — and so are the stingers. 😬 UGA College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences research entomologist and Extension specialist Elmer Gray breaks down what to expect from fire ants, yellow jackets, wasps, bees and more this summer — and what to do if you’re stung. Here are a few things you might not know: 🐝 Yellow jackets can chase you — they may cling to your clothes and follow you even after you've fled the nest. 🐜 Fire ants sting multiple times and they respond fast if their mound is disturbed. 🍯 Honey bees leave their stinger behind and it needs to be scraped off, not pulled, to avoid injecting more venom.
