Today we remember the life and tragic loss of SO1 (SEAL) Ryan F. Larkin, born October 15, 1987 and died April 23, 2017. Ryan followed in his father’s Frank’s footsteps and became a Navy SEAL serving on SEAL Team 7 and at TRADET ONE. Ryan suffered from TBI after experiencing multiple IEDs in combat and from sniper and heavy weapons training and use. His pleas for help were not answered by the Teams and he struggled to figure out a remedy for his symptoms. On this day 8 years ago alone except for his service dog he took his own life. His dog and my service dog were best friends. His painful loss did serve to improve treatment for veterans like him. His story was told in a two part report by Sharyl Akkission on Fullmeasure.
