PENNSYLVANIA ACADEMY OF OTOLARYNGOLOGY/HEAD AND NECK SURGERY WAS INCORPORATED AS A NONPROFIT ORGANIZATION IN 1952, UNDER THE NAME OF PENNSYLVANIA ACADEMY OF OPHTHALMOLOGY AND OTOLARYNGOLOGY. ON SEPTEMBER 21, 1990, THE ACADEMY SPUN OFF ACTIVITIES RELATED TO OPHTHALMOLOGY AND ADOPTED ITS CURRENT NAME. THE ACADEMY'S PURPOSE IS TO SERVE THE COMMON PROFESSIONAL INTERESTS OF OTOLARYNGOLOGISTS AND THEIR PATIENTS IN PENNSYLVANIA AND TO PROMOTE THE HIGHEST PROFESSIONAL AND ETHICAL STANDARDS OF THE PRACTICE OF OTOLARYNGOLOGY/HEAD AND NECK SURGERY.
