Renaissance and Baroque was founded in 1969 to promote community understanding and appreciation of the music, arts and culture of the Middle Ages, Renaissance, Baroque, and early Classical eras by presenting historically informed performances. We present an annual series of six performances. Our professional musicians from the U.S. or abroad play on original instruments or faithfully made copies, using appropriate historical performance practices. We also have an outreach and educational program, where our musicians extend their time in Pittsburgh to teach, demonstrate and perform in schools, universities, and medical facilities.
