Greater Indianapolis Metropolitan Crimestoppers, Inc.
Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana began operations in 1985 and is coordinated by the Indianapolis Metropoliton Police Department. Our main mission is to give our citizens an anonymous way to submit information on crime and criminals. If a felony arrest is made we do offer a small reward to the tipster. All reward funds and operating expenses are provided by funding through the efforts of a private board of directors (non-law enforcement) consisting of business and community leaders. We use a variety of media (tv, radio, print, web, posters, etc.) to advertise the need for information on unsolved felony crimes and fugitives, offering callers anonymity and a reward of up to $1000. Rewards are based upon factors of the crime. Anonymity is guaranteed by using state of the art tip management software and only tipsters code names, not real names. Callers claim eligible rewards through the use of the code number. We serve 17 Central Indiana counties which include, Cass, Howard, Tipton, Boone, Hamilton, Putnam, Hendrick, Marion, Hancock, Morgan, Johnson, Shelby, Monroe, Brown, Bartholomew, Lawrence, and Jennings.
