THE FRIENDS OF THE SHAWNEE NATIONAL FOREST WAS CREATED TO SUPPORT EFFORTS IN CONNECTING THE COMMUNITIES IN SOUTHERN ILLINOIS TO ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION, RESPONSIBLE RECREATION, AND COLLABORATIVE EVENTS. THE ORGANIZAITON PROMOTES STEWARDSHIP, EDUCATION AND CONSERVATION.
