We’ve hit an exciting milestone at Lucky Dog Animal Rescue! Holiday and Kodak are the final two dogs to be enrolled in our innovative heartworm study. Led by Lucky Dog, in collaboration with the University of Florida’s Shelter Medicine Program and the Toronto Humane Society— and funded by PetSmart CharitiesPetSmart Charities — this research is exploring safer, faster, and more accessible alternatives to traditional heartworm treatment. Our team is rescuing heartworm-positive dogs from overcrowded shelters, providing them with veterinary-supervised care, and helping to build a treatment model that can be used in shelters nationwide.
