DWN is a nonprofit org providing assistance and education to survivors of the Darfur genocide in Chad refugee camps and those who have immigrated to the USA. Darfur Women Network, Inc. (DWN) is a non-profit organization founded by Darfur native Mastora Bakhiet to empower displaced women and vulnerable families to build peaceful and sustainable livelihood through education, social change and resiliency. Darfur Women's Network's long-term mission includes bridging cultural divides and fostering dialogue, providing networking opportunities, and strengthening relationships between Americans and African immigrants in the USA. Additional core priorities include empowering displaced and refugee women and girls from Darfur; improving cultural competency between tribal communities; encouraging positive teamwork for the sake of determining and meeting Darfuri women’s needs; creating educational opportunities; raising awareness; spreading a sense of empowerment in order to catalyze conflict transformation and peace-building efforts; improving Darfuri women’s socio-economic status; and building displaced and refugees’ communities from the inside-out via social justice and progressive social change in Darfur, Sudan and in Chad.
