Ben Carlson was a waterman and 15-year lifeguard who died while making his final rescue on July 6, 2014. This foundation provides scholarships in his name TO PROMOTE EDUCATION AND AWARENESS OF OCEAN SAFETY, TO SPREAD THE TEACHINGS OF LIFEGUARDING TO UNDERPRIVILEDGED COMMUNITITES, AND TO AWARD SCHOLARSHIPS TO STUDENTS DEMONSTRATING A COMMITMENT TO OCEAN SAFETY.

Taking into consideration the things that truly mattered to Ben your donations will proudly support the following causes as the BCMSF Board of Advisors decides. Bens Story On July 6 2014 a few blocks south of the Newport Beach Pier Ben Carlson and Gary Conwell were patrolling the ocean in the Sea Watch 2 rescue boat. It was the end of a busy 4th of July weekend that was marked by warm conditions abnormally large and turbulent surf and giant crowds.
