In The Media: Newly-released rice varieties set to significantly contribute to Kenya's agriculture sector. Developed through a strong research partnership between IRRI and the Kenya Agricultural and Livestock Research Organization (KALRO), the Kalimara and Kalpaa rice varieties are designed to thrive under climate stress and saline soils while meeting consumer demand for high-quality, locally grown rice. KALRO Director General Dr. Eliud Kireger emphasized the importance of mechanization and using certified quality seeds to boost productivity.
