Sister Jomary Trstensky, OSF, current chair of Hospital Sisters Ministries, which sponsors Hospital Sisters Health System, gave a history lesson on St. John's Hospital at a recent panel event, including Springfield religious sisters telling of their contributions to the community. “The legacy of the Hospital Sisters has to be the development of health care,” Sister Jomary said. It was nearly 150 years ago when the first Hospital Sisters of St. Francis arrived in Springfield and started St. John's Hospital.
