This week, we partnered with Northern Virginia Community College-Medical Education Campus Dental Hygiene Program to host a dental screening clinic for students from two Fairfax County elementary schools! NVCC Dental Hygiene students provided exceptional care and engaging health education, ensuring each child left not only with a big smile but also with a dental kit to continue practicing great oral hygiene at home. A huge thank you to NVCC and Fairfax County Public Schools for joining MCCP to support the health and well-being of our community’s children. It was truly a wonderful day of learning, care, and smiles! (fb)
Throughout February, we have been celebrating National Children’s Dental Health Month—a time to raise awareness about the importance of oral health for kids. But how did this initiative begin? The American Dental Association (ADA) launched this campaign in 1941 as a one-day event in Cleveland, Ohio. By 1955, it expanded to a week-long celebration, and in 1981, it became a month-long national observance. The goal? To educate families, schools, and communities about the lifelong benefits of good oral hygiene and prevent childhood dental issues like cavities and gum disease. Why It Matters: ✔ Tooth decay is one of the most common chronic conditions in children. ✔ Early dental care sets the foundation for lifelong health. ✔ Good oral health is linked to better overall well-being and academic success. At MCCP, we’re committed to ensuring that every child has access to essential dental screenings, preventive treatments, and education—so they can smile with confidence! How do you promote dental health in your home or community? Share your tips below! #ChildrensDentalHealthMonth (fb)
