Gutting the Ohio Housing Trust Fund will weaken the state's ability to address the affordable housing crisis, especially in rural areas. And it will divert funding away from homeless veterans, seniors, domestic violence survivors, and people with disabilities toward more bureaucracy. It makes no sense. Invisible People just released this inspiring documentary highlighting a small but mighty Ohio program that helps returning citizens stay out of prison and homelessness! The recidivism rate for people in the Returning Home Ohio and Community Transition Program is just 1.4%. These programs should be expanded, not just because they give people a chance to rebuild their lives and become productive members of society. It's also much cheaper for the state to house people in supportive housing than to house them in prison. (fb)
