Cunningham, MSS: Dear PASC Colleagues, You have likely heard that yesterday the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) announced a dramatic restructuring plan in accordance with the Executive Order implementing the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) Workforce Optimization Initiative. This plan includes layoffs across HHS, office closures, and the dismantling of the Administration for Community Living (ACL). https://tinyurl.com/522xx27x Please join us in strongly encouraging HHS to keep the essential health needs of older Americans and their caregivers at the forefront. It is critical that all Americans have access to senior centers – where they exercise, receive nutritious meals and health education, improve financial literacy, access programs and services, and where they get the socialization needed to facilitate longer, happier, and healthier lives. Please call and email your members of Congress, expressing your concerns, and asking them to safeguard older adults and the programs on which they rely. As we learn more information and how this may impact Pennsylvania’s senior centers, we will share it with our membership, in furtherance of PASC’s mission to promote, advocate, support and connect senior centers across the Commonwealth.
