The Virginia Association of Chiefs of Police & Foundation is the professional membership organization for Virginia's law enforcement executives. The Virginia Association of Chiefs of Police & Foundation (VACP), founded in 1926, is a 501(c)3 nonprofit membership organization of local, state, federal & private law enforcement executives in Virginia. The purpose of the VACP is to promote the professional development of all executive & management law enforcement personnel in Virginia; to encourage close cooperation of all LE agencies in the prevention & detection of crime and apprehension of those responsible; to promote the highest standards of the police profession through selection & training of LE officers; and to strive for the highest degree of respect for law & order throughout the Commonwealth. Our mission is to make Virginia's communities safer by providing leadership education through partnerships among citizens, business and law enforcement. The VACP fosters the values of good citizenship, enhances the prospects of secure communities, and brightens the future through constructive social change for each community in Virginia.
