DEVELOPING HEALTHY BOYS MERGE Training for Early Childhood Educators Five Hours, CEU certified, delivered online over Zoom. The Developing Healthy Boys training is about male gender socialization and skills for promoting compassionate, non-violent and equitable boys and men. This highly participatory program uses personal reflection and cross-gender dialogue to promote the following subjects. How boys typically learn about gender and how stereotypes impact boys, supporting boys behaving in ways that do not conform to the stereotypes, the co-constructive story time model when reading books with children, and using children’s books to promote healthy gender development. HistoryLegacy In 1982 a group of men in western Massachusetts founded the Mens Resource Center MRC one of the first centers of its kind in North America. The MRC was at the forefront of a burgeoning movement promoting positive masculinity and engaging men to challenge mens violence against women. Over time its local focus grew and it became a regional and national model for socially engaged mens centers. It trained and consulted with several such mens initiatives helping to launch centers in New Hampshire New York New Mexico North Carolina and Texas.
