Dear Friends of SAW, I wanted to reach out to you to give an update concerning Salem Art Works. Due to a decrease in funding, SAW is going to a new business model. For the 2025 season, Salem Art Works will be open in July and August. We plan on expanding in the 2026 season to June, July, and August. This will allow SAW to reduce staff hours, utilities, and material purchases. SAW always had a robust summer season and was the main focus of our mission, to support emerging and established artists in the creation of new and progressive, as well as promoting the understanding and appreciation of contemporary art. In the past, we continued to offer programs, residencies, and workshops from September through May. Operating during this time of the year, was very expensive, but was possible due to some very generous donations. This is no longer possible, but the goal is the same, to offer high-quality programming to artists and the public and keep the mission of SAW alive. Going forward, Jim Letts will serve as Interim Executive Director. Jim has over 40 years of nonprofit experience, including service as the CEO of the Saratoga Regional YMCA where he was responsible for a 13M budget and 550 employees. Jim has served as our Development Director at SAW for the past five years, so he knows our organization well. If you have any questions, he can be contacted at j.letts@salemartworks.org. Nicco Enedi will be returning to manage our programming needs. Please keep in mind our upcoming annual appeal. This is the period in time in our long and textual history, where we have reached out for your support. We hope you consider contributing again this year and help SAW reimagine our future! Thank you for your continued support Anthony Cafritz Chair, Board of Directors (fb)
