Founded in 1969, Canterbury Summer Theatre is one of the Midwest’s oldest professional summer companies. The mission of the Canterbury Guild is to produce performing arts presentations of the highest quality at affordable admission prices, in order to enhance the cultural environment of La Porte County by engaging its residents through attendance and/or involvement in its programming, and by offering low-cost facility rental to performing arts groups in the area. Canterbury Guild is a civic nonprofit arts organization founded in 1969, in Michigan City, Indiana; it owns and operates the Canterbury Theatre, a 140-seat performing arts venue at 807 Franklin Street, whose 3-level structure also houses administrative offices, and space used for various facets of theatrical production preparation and construction, as well as storage.

Tomorrow (Wed) at 2 pm, Canterbury proudly presents its first musical of the 2025 season, 'A Year with Frog and Toad'. Based on the beloved children's books by Arnold Lobel, and transformed into a Tony award-winning hit, the show follows the woodland adventures of two amphibious friends, a worrywart toad and a perky frog, with their assorted colorful hopping, crawling and flying companions, over the course of a year. 'A Year with Frog and Toad' has been hailed for its universal appeal to both kids and adults, and its lessons about friendship and acceptance.
