Do you have forsythia in your yard? 🌼 Forsythia is a spring favorite, lighting up the landscape with cheerful yellow blooms before most other trees and shrubs. But without regular pruning, it can quickly become an overgrown tangle. Don’t let pruning intimidate you—our expert tips will help you keep your forsythia looking vibrant and well-maintained! ✂️ Essential Pruning Tools: -Pruning Shears: Great for branches up to half an inch in diameter. -Loppers: Ideal for cutting thicker stems up to an inch in diameter. -Pruning Saw: Handy for larger branches. 🌳 How to Prune Forsythia: -Gradual Renewal: Remove one-third of the oldest branches at ground level right after flowering. Repeat in the second and third years to refresh the entire shrub gradually. -Total Rejuvenation: For a more dramatic approach, cut all branches to the ground every three to four years. This method keeps growth in check and gives your forsythia a neat, tidy look. Pruning might seem daunting, but forsythia is resilient! It is such a fast-growing shrub, that pruning errors are hardly permanent and can be corrected in subsequent years!
