Friends of the Tsunami Animal-People Alliance
FoTAPA was created to support improving the welfare of the animals and the people in Sri Lanka's tsunami zone and former war zone and to raise awareness that recovery from the Great Tsunami is still ongoing and will take many years, as well recovery from the 30 year civil war. FoTAPA supports the implementation of mass sterilization and vaccination programs in the tsunami zone and former war zone to reduce the incidence of rabies and dog bites, while humanely controlling the animal population and reducing the threat of animal cruelty by those fearing rabies. FoTAPA also seeks to educate the tsunami and former war zone communities regarding ways the people and animals can live together in harmony.
