US Coast Guard K9 Pongo is one of two Coast Guard explosives detection dogs based just across the estuary from FAAS! There are only 18 Coast Guard dogs in the US so this is pretty special. They're rock stars in their field, and we were lucky enough to be able to go along with them on a training mission. Check out Pongo sniffing for explosives scents (not real explosives) at California Memorial Stadium in Berkeley! He's fantastic at what he does, and so is his devoted handler. Woohoo! 🥳🤩 Guess what's on its way from Idaho to Alameda to help the area's spay/neuter crisis? The refurbished shipping containers that will be the heart of the FAAS Animal Medical Services & Training (FAMST) Campus! There are eight of these making their way to our island as we write this.
