Advancing Sustainable Communities Heartland was formed in 1997 as a volunteer effort to affect positive change in the Renewal Communities of San Diego County. To serve low-income residents of San Diego County with projects in areas of career and community development, healthcare, environmental protection and clean energy, disaster relief, education, objective and timely news, and public art. The Heartland Foundation generates high road, win/win partnerships that create good jobs, capable employees, fair employers, and better communities in relation to the local economy, environment, and culture.
