While we’re certainly excited to see migratory birds back in Shelby for breeding season, we wanted to give a little love to one of our year-round residents: the American Robin. You might recognize them from their signature orange breast feathers, which they share in common with their Eastern Bluebird cousins, who are also found abundantly in Shelby 🐦 With an estimated 380 million American Robins located in the United States, you’ve more than likely seen them in your yards, tree lines, and favorite parks 😉 They’re able to produce up to three broods each year (with those stunning, blue eggs! 🪺), and eat a varied diet of earthworms, insects, and berries 🫐 The next time you’re out in nature, make sure to take a moment to appreciate the critters you see often just as much as the rare ones 🧡🩵 Sources: Cornell University, TWRA, American Bird Conservancy #myshelbypark #robin (fb)
