📣 Meet Gia Kim, our first-place winner (ages 11–14) in the 2025 Science Without Borders® Challenge. Gia’s piece, “Melting Grounds,” highlights the importance of krill—tiny but essential marine creatures—and the threats they face from global warming. Her thoughtful approach and powerful message wowed our judges and reminded us how deeply connected life in the ocean really is.

The Khaled bin Sultan Living Oceans Foundation is a proud member of the MENA Oceans Network, an initiative of Goumbook - Changing Mindsets. Last week, we participated in the network's first members' meeting, where we met conservation organizations across the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) who are also working on addressing critical ocean issues. We look forward to collaborating with network members to advance coral and mangrove conservation in the MENA region.
